Egg-citing Easter Activities
Easter 2022 is fast approaching. It’s the chocolatiest time of the year … we’re talking chocolate eggs and hot cross buns. Yum!

Although family time is precious, keeping the kids busy during this time of the year can be quite the challenge. True, there are undoubtedly Easter activities that stay the same year after year, but it’s always fun to add something new to the repertoire. So, try something different, who knows, it could become a new tradition.
We have a few egg-cellent (sorry couldn’t resist!) ideas on how to make Easter extra “hoppy” this year:
- Grow a lollipop garden - overnight! Get the kids excited about Easter by planting lollipops in your garden and show them how they miraculously sprouted overnight. Sprinkle cotton balls as rabbit fur, or take a bite from a carrot which was “accidentally” left by a bunny. Allow them to harvest these delights.
- Get the giggles started. Challenge everyone to come up with an Easter joke.
Q: What do you get if you pour hot water down a rabbit hole?
A: A hot, cross bunny!
- Get baking. Kids will have a whale of a time making their own treats. Host a bake-off with their friends. Kids can swap each other’s goodies, or even vote for the best treat.
- Get crafty. Ask the kids to help you with an Eater wreath. Glue some painted eggs or tiny bunnies to a wire or faux wreath and hang the decoration on your front door in anticipation. Do some egg painting or make face masks from paper plates.
- Take the kids to a petting zoo for some one-on-one time with real bunnies.
- Have the classic Easter egg hunt. This classic Easter activity is still one of the most fun things to do. It’s simple but can add up to hours of fun. Off course, the old egg and spoon race is still a must. You don’t have to boil the eggs for this one, but it’s less messy if you do.
- Get sporty. Easter is a great time to work off some extra energy. Use a few cardboard boxes to create an obstacle course in your garden and hold races with Easter goodies for the winner.
- Have a bunny hopsack race. Turn large pillow cases into hours of Easter fun.
- Head out with your bikes. Pop on your helmets and hop onto your bikes. Keep an eye out in case the Easter bunny is about!
- Suggest a water-balloon “egg” toss. Head outside and split your family into two groups. Have each group toss water-balloon “eggs” back and forth. When someone pops an egg, their team is out – and soggy!
- Play the “Hula Hoop Aim” game. Set up 5 hula hoops on the floor. Give each player 5 plastic eggs. Have them toss the eggs into the hoops to see who can rack up the most points.
- Do some bunny bowling. Make bunny pins with empty cooldrink bottles. Add hand-drawn faces and paper ears to make this game
- Play a boardgame with an assortment of delicious Easter treats for the winner.
- Blow some bubbles. Use washing-up liquid, sugar, and water to make your own. Try different blowers for more bubbly fun.
Easter is a time for togetherness and family and each year presents an opportunity to make new memories.
Happy Easter everyone!
