About the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

The annual Sanlam Cape Town Marathon takes place in the picturesque Mother City on 17 September 2017, and the field will include all-comers from elite athletes, club and non-club runners, casual joggers to social runners and walkers.

The marathon route is competitive, yet beautiful, offering highlights of the city’s natural splendour and top cultural attractions. And spectators can enjoy Cape Town’s festive atmosphere at supporter zones along the route and at the finish in Green Point.

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is the only standard marathon race in Africa to be awarded Silver Label status, and joint organisers Western Province Athletics (WPA), ASEM Running and the City of Cape Town will continue to target Gold Label recognition.

Says race ambassador and former Olympic silver medallist Elana Meyer, “We have a vision and will continue to focus on that by making the required adjustments to ensure we are delivering a world-class event.”
