Some time ago the regulator, the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine as a booster of the primary Pfizer vaccine two-dose series.
This approval means that people can get the booster dose six months after the administration of the second dose of the Pfizer (or in the case of immunocompromised people who receive an additional primary dose, after their third dose).
SAHPRA has also approved the use of the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine for boosters of the single dose primary J&J vaccine at least two months after primary vaccination.
Immunocompromised adults
Immunocompromised adults are eligible to get an additional dose in addition to the standard booster.
These members must simply obtain a referral letter from their treating doctor confirming the condition causing their immune system to be compromised.
Please make use of this opportunity to get your booster vaccine!
