As one of South Africa’s most established and trusted medical aid schemes, we’ve joined forces with financial services giant Sanlam to deliver a medical aid solution that goes beyond traditional medical cover.
This partnership brings together decades of experience and financial strength to create a healthcare ecosystem that integrates health, wealth, and wellness — which means our members can now access medical aid, risk protection, and lifestyle rewards all under one trusted umbrella.
Benefits that answer real member needs
Our 2026 benefit enhancements are designed around what matters most to South Africans. They include:
● Expanded maternity benefits on flexiFED 1, covering additional scans, antenatal consultations, classes, and amniocentesis.
● Stronger mental health support, with funded depression medication extended to entry-level options such as Savvy, flexiFED 1 and flexiFED 2.
● Emergency contraception is now covered across all options.
● Preventative care for seniors, including an additional pneumococcal vaccine for those aged 65 and older.
● Oncology upgrades, including a 25% higher brachytherapy benefit limit on flexiFED 4.
● Launch of Day-to-Day Plus (D2D+), rewarding members who complete a health risk assessment and register for Sanlam Health Rewards with up to R4,500 in additional day-to-day cover.
These changes reflect a scheme that listens and responds to our members’ real world needs and that continues to evolve alongside them.
Affordable medical aid built for South Africans
Even with these significant improvements in benefits, we’ve kept affordability front and centre. We’ve achieved our lowest average weighted contribution increase in years: just 9.6%.
Popular options such as flexiFED 1 will rise by only 5% (R125 per month for a main member), while flexiFED Savvy increases by R100 per month. For lower-income earners, myFED remains competitively priced with only a 9.5% increase.
Affordability is our key focus in ensuring that medical aid becomes more accessible to more South Africans, without compromising on quality or care.
